Camps

Kick off Camp 2011!

We had a great time over the weekend of the 18th -20th March, kicking off the year. We looked at what Jesus had to say in his classic “Sermon on the Mount”.

We headed up into the mountains, got stuck into Gods word- hearing from Steve on Saturday morning, thinking through areas we can live out our faith in the uni culture.
We then split into discussion groups for the rest of our sessions to think about specific ways the ‘Sermon on the Mount’ will affect our lives as men and women.

As well as some deep thinking, we had some worship with music, and some games/activities around Talbingo equalling some good times. Steve brought his boat, and the B&S Firewood skiboat was brought along too for some biscuiting on the lake on Saturday arvo.

Lock this camp in for next year- it was a ripper!! Coming in mid-term 1!

Girls’ Getaway

You’ve missed Girl’s Getaway for this year. It was held earlier in Term 4, and it was an awesome weekend away!! Around 30 of us girls stayed together at Henty B & B on Friday night & enjoyed choc fondue, trivia on the topic of ‘love’ and just hanging out. On Saturday, we had a couple of talks which looked at what the Scriptures have to say about love, what we’re like when it comes to loving God and others, and how God shows his love for us. After some yummy food, some soccer & netball, we finished off the weekend by meeting in small groups to chat about how we can practically love God, and love the peeps around us.

Bloke’s Bush and Bible Bash

The boys have their infamous Blokes Bush and Bible Bash (or BBBB) which is the guys’ turn to hang out together, kip under the stars and do blokey stuff for a weekend (check out a clip from 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6BbEfzYL14). A time of challenging talks and discussions, plenty of meat and good times with the boys.

National Training Event

At the end of the year will be NTE. This is a huge conference with over 1200 students from Australia, all meeting in Canberra to hear talks, write talks, attend workshops and hear about missionaries from around the world. We then head off in mission teams and spread the gospel to towns and cities all around Australia.             NTE 2011: 3rd-11th December

Mid-Year Conference

Our biggest annual CSU camp in the middle of the year, held at Warrumbui, a camp site just outside Canberra. Members of the Christian groups from the CSU campuses of Albury, Orange and Bathurst join us in a week of Bible talks, Bible studies, personal reflection, fellowship and fun. It’s on during the mid year break, and it is well worth the using one of those three weeks of holidays to learn more about God and how to apply that knowledge to your life. We’ve just come back from a whole week looking at ‘the cross’, arguably the crux of our faith, and the event that has changed the world, and which needs to shape every aspect of our life!
